Huawei launches Pocket S model: what’s new about the new foldable smartphone?

Technology giant Huawei launched its newest smartphone on the Chinese market on Wednesday: the Pocket S, the most affordable foldable smartphone the company has ever released.
According to Huawei, the device is available in six “exquisite and vivid” colors that follow the latest fashion trends: obsidian black, frosted silver, mint green, sakura pink, primrose gold and ice crystal blue.
The manufacturer claims to have further improved the strength and durability of its device as the smartphone has been tested to fold and unfold 400,000 times!
What are the features of the new Pocket S model?
The new model uses a HarmonyOS 3.0 operating system, supports 4G connectivity, is powered by a Snapdragon 778G microprocessor, and has 8GB of RAM, as well as internal storage capacity ranging from 128GB to 512GB.
The smartphone is equipped with a 6.9-inch internal OLED display that can display 1.07 billion colors, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz, as well as a resolution of 2790×1188 pixels, while the 1.04-inch external display has a refresh rate of up to 60 Hz.
The designers have equipped the smartphone with a 40-megapixel super-sensing camera and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The front camera has a resolution of 10.7 MP, which includes features such as portrait mode, panoramic photography and time-lapse, among others.
Note that the back of the device features the camera module of the P50 Pocket minus the 32 MP wide-angle Ultra-spectrum sensor.
The smartphone features a new integrated flexible graphite heat dissipation system and is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery, designed to support 40W fast charging.
The device, available only in China, is priced at $825 for the 128GB version and $890 for the 256GB version (and $1050 for the 512GB version). So far, the firm’s catalog features the 512GB variant.
